Bangladesh shuts down Peace School branches
Dhaka: The government on Tuesday ordered the closure of Peace School and its branches across the country immediately for its controversial activities, reports UNB.
The Education Ministry issued a notice in this regard on Tuesday.
Earlier, the Education Ministry urged the Home Ministry to take steps for closing the activities of Peace School, and directed the authorities concerned of Dhaka Education Board for canceling the approval of its Lalmatia branch following its controversial activities.
On 26 July, the government ordered the complete shutdown of Darul Ihsan University and outer campuses of other private universities amid growing engagement in militant activities by a section of students of some private universities.
Besides, the government stopped the transmission of Peace TV, a satellite channel which used to broadcast the speeches of controversial preacher Zakir Naik in the country, on 10 July.
