Bangladeshi researcher Rauful Alam awarded Swedish scholarship
Dhaka: Bangladeshi young researcher Rauful Alam has been awarded Bengt Ludqvist scholarship by Swedish Chemical Society.
The society awards three scholars each year for Postdoctoral research after the name of a native chemist Bengt Lundqvist. With the aid of this grant, Rauful Alam will continue his research at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) with Professor Gary A Molander. His research mainly focused on the development of new chemical reactions to synthesize useful chemicals such as drug, fine chemicals, materials and so on for the benefit of humankind.
Alam has been accomplished his Doctoral degree from Stockholm University under the supervision of Professor Kalman Szabo. His research works have been published in several prestigious international journals including Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS) and Angewandte Chemie.
Rauful Alam has presented his work in many different international chemical conferences in USA and Europe. Prior to his doctoral study, he also attained MS degree from Stockholm University.
Dr. Alam was born at Comilla in Bangladesh. He attended Comilla Victoria College for his Higher Secondary education. He moved to Stockholm University after his Bachelor and MS in Chemistry from Chittagong University. He writes article on science and teach chemistry in online. His dream is to boost the scientific research in Bangladesh.
