Shireen’s new song ‘Gaanwali’ released on YouTube

Dhaka: Bangladeshi descent British singer Shireen Jawad hit the headline of Bangladeshi music industry singing a popular song named ‘Panjabiwala’ in 2007. Her last album Rangeela was released in 2013.
After three years, Shireen has come to the limelight with her new Bangla song ‘Gaanwali’ (Lady singer), which was released on video-sharing website YouTube on January 11.
The music video of the Bangla song ‘Gaanwali’, directed by the singer herself, has been uploaded on the YouTube channel of CD Choice. Avraal Sahir is the lyricist and composer of the song.
Shireen Jawad, born August 11, 1971 is a British singer of Bangladeshi origin. Shireen was born and brought up in East London, England. Her first memories are of singing on her father’s lap at the age of two. Her inspiration came from her late mother and her father who used to sing traditional Bangla folk music at home.
Shireen qualified as a social worker before becoming a professional singer. At the age of 19, she had her first public performance and moved on to singing Bengali folk songs to larger audiences.
In 2007, Shireen’s debut album Panjabiwala was released, co-recorded with Habib Wahid. The album featured a collection of songs given to Shireen by her late mother.
In 2009, her second album Mathwali was released by Laser Vision, which featured a selection of songs Shireen Jawad collated from all regions of Bangladesh.
In April 2013, her third album Rangeela was released by Laser Vision, featuring Habib Wahid, Bappa Majumdar, Fuad, Hridoy Khan, Rumel, Rumman, Rafa and Raihan.
Shireen has also worked with producers Habib Wahid and Fuad Almuktader.
Shireen regularly performs in UK, Bangladesh and the US as well as Denmark, Italy and Spain.
Shireen’s focus is traditional Asian folk and spiritual music.
