Nordic envoys visit Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar

Dhaka: Ambassadors of Denmark, Norway and Sweden in Dhaka are on a three‐day visit to Cox’s Bazar to observe the situation at Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhia and Teknaf.
Danish Ambassador Mikael Hemniti Winther, Norway’s Ambassador Sidsel Bleken, Swedish Ambassador Johan Frisell and their deputies reached Cox’s Bazar on Sunday and visited a number of places, including an unregistered Rohingya camp at Leda in Teknaf upazila on Monday morning.
The Nordic Ambassadors met the Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar and discussed progresses in the development projects in the district as well as challenges facing the Rohingya refugees.
They will also visit Kutupalang registered refugee camp in Ukhia on Tuesday morning before returning to the capital, he said.
Around 65,000 Rakhine Muslims entered Bangladesh from Myanmar since October 9 last, according to Foreign Ministry.
The refugees took shelter in the two camps and surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, the Nordic Ambassadors also visited IOM Bangladesh project on education, e‐learning, e‐health at Moheskhail Island.
