DU Gha-Unit entrance test result published amid question leak allegation

Dhaka: Amid the buzzing rumours of question paper leak, University of Dhaka published the results of Gha-Unit entrance test for first year honours courses for the 2017-18 academic sessions on Sunday.
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman announced the results at central admission office in the university's administrative building in the afternoon.
The results are available on the university website www.admission.eis.du.ac.bd or students can get the results through sending SMS using any mobile operator. To get result through SMS, one will have to type ‘DU GHA roll number’ and send it to 16321.
The Gha’ unit is known as the combined unit for science, business studies and humanities group students.
The one-hour test was held on 20 October from 10:00am to 11:00am at 86 centers inside and outside of the campus.
However, a part of the question paper given for the entrance test of University of Dhaka Gha unit was allegedly leaked around 8 hours before the examination.
A mail, which attached a sample question paper of the test, was sent to the news media at about 3:19am on Friday.
The university’s Social Science Faculty dean Dr Sadequa Halim, who is also involved with examination management, denied the question leak allegation.
Refusing the allegation, Sadequa Halim said, ‘Question paper leak is impossible. If you get information about the question leakage, we will form investigation body to find out the matter.’
DU’s acting proctor AM Amzad said ‘some of the candidates tried to adopt unfair means during the examination. They were detained and actions taken against them.’ However, unlike the dean, the acting proctor also denied the claim of question paper leak.
A total of 98,054 applicants sat for the examinations against 1,610 seats under three groups (Science -1147 seats, Business studies - 410 seats, and Humanities - 53 seats).
Around 15 people, including two Dhaka University (DU) students, were detained for their alleged involvement in question paper leakage and illegally using electronic devices during the entrance test.
