Amir Khan receives death threats

Former I’m A Celebrity contestant and boxing champion Amir Khan has been threatened after sharing pictures of his Christmas decorations online.
The welterweight champion, who is a devout Muslim, put up Christmas tree and assorted decorations for his daughter while she was asleep and shared the images on Instagram, reports Metro.
Proud dad Amir, who has 1.2 million Instagram followers, captioned the image: ‘While everyone’s asleep, daddy put the Christmas tree up. Lamaisah’s going to be happy. #Christmas #MerryChristmas2017.’ However, the boxer, 31, received abuse after posting the image, with critics slamming him for celebrating Christmas as a Muslim.
‘I promise to god I want to kill you and your family amir,’ read one threatening tweet, which has since been deleted. Another now deleted tweet read: ‘Muslim’s don’t celebrate Christmas.
It’s one thing to give out cards at school your respecting other faith and their celebration but putting up a tree in your own home… poor kid will be well confused.
Great to have the few days off to be with family. Sorry to hear you got grief for a tree,’ wrote another user on Twitter.
Amir came in 5th place during this year’s highly-addictive I’m A Celebrity and certainly made quite the impression during his time in the jungle.
We wish Amir and family a Happy Christmas! Metro.co.uk has reached out to Amir’s rep for comment.
