Dhaka: Bangladesh General Students’ Right Protection Council on Thursday threatened to wage tougher movement if the gazette on abolishing quota system in government job is not published within this month.

Nurul Haque Nur, joint convener of the platform, came up with the warning at a press briefing in front of Central Library of Dhaka University.

In the press note, they also asked the concerned authorities to withdraw all the cases filed by police against protesters and specify the names of those involved in the attack on VC’s residence.

Besides, they also decided to arrange discussion meetings among students and teachers on April 30 in all public and private universities across the country over harassing students regarding the issue.

On April 11, four cases were filed against unnamed accused following the clash and vandalism in Dhaka University (DU) camps and VC’s house during the demonstration for the reformation of quota system in government jobs.

Earlier on April 16, the council threatened to wage a fresh movement if the cases filed against them during the quota-reform movement are not withdrawn.
