OIC Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs Ambassador Hamid Opeloyeru came up with the remarks sharing their primary observation after monitoring the polls here, reports the UNB.
Talking to reporters at a city hotel, he said the polling agents of major political parties — Awami League and BNP – were seen and mentioned that their impression, in general, about the polls atmosphere was good.
Upon invitation by the Bangladesh Election Commission, OIC Secretary General Dr Yousef Al-Othaimeen dispatched the high-level election observation team, led by Ambassador Hamid Opeloyeru, to follow the national parliamentary elections held on Sunday.
The participation of the OIC in observing the elections in Bangladesh is part of its continuous endeavour to promote democracy and good governance in the Member States, according to the OIC.
