Dhaka: Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed on Sunday claimed that the 11th general election was held across the country on Sunday amid a festive mood barring some stray incidents of violence.

He made the claim while announcing partial results of the parliamentary elections at Nirbachan Bhaban.

The EC secretary said some stray incidents of violence took place in some constituencies and legal actions will be taken against those involved in those after investigation.

He said the voting in 22 out of total 40,000 centres was postponed on various charges.
