Dhaka: A woman police constable was allegedly raped in the capital.

Doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital informed the news to media, quoting the victim.

They also said medical check-up of the woman is underway.

The woman claimed her ex-husband, also a police officer, along with his friends abused her.

Violence against women in Bangladesh, no new phenomenon in Bangladesh, has become prevalent news on local media after several women had been sexually assaulted by a group of rogue young men at Dhaka University during the Bengali New Year celebrations. 

On 21 May, an indigenous woman was gang-raped inside a microbus by a group of unidentified persons on capital’s Kuril-Uttara road where she was waiting for transport to return her Uttara residence.
