New German classroom inaugurated at Dhaka University
Dhaka: Inauguration ceremony of the expanded and newly decorated classroom of German Language Course was held today at the Institute of Modern Languages (IML) of Dhaka University (DU).
Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the function as the chief guest while German Ambassador in Dhaka Thomas Prinz addressed it as special guest.
Director of the IML of DU Prof Iffat Ara Nasreen Majid and Managing Director & CEO of Siemens Bangladesh Limited, a renowned German company, Indranil Lahiri were present, among others, on the occasion.
The VC said the friendly relationship between Germany and Dhaka University as well as Bangladesh has been prevailing for long-year. The founding faculty member of DU Physics Department Prof S N Bose and renowned German Scientist Albert Einstein had jointly conducted research activities on particle physics during that time, he mentioned.
The German Language Course will play an effective role to strengthen these traditional academic ties between Dhaka University and Germany, the VC hoped.
He said collaborative academic and research programmes on various issues including information & communication technology are being jointly conducted by the University of Dhaka and the higher educational institutions in Germany. He urged the ambassador to extend logistics support to the DU for promoting scientific research at the university.
Thomas Prinz thanked the students of German Language Course. He also hoped that the students of German Language Course of DU would able to enjoy job opportunities at various German companies in Bangladesh as well as Germany through development of their language skills.
